Cargo, Olive, Army – Call them what you will, the greens of spring are soft, beautiful, and look great with everything you have in your closet from winter.

I love to see the excitement on our customers faces as they see the color trickling into the store in the later days of winter. Although black is slimming and timeless and goes with everything (ok, fine – black is great) and grey was EVERYWHERE this winter, we are all ready for a pop of color come springtime. We are seeing tons of pastels coming in: soft pinks, blues and greens. What I love is that all of these colors look great with our winter wardrobe of grey on grey on grey (on black). Here are a few of the olive greens that we have in store now, which conveniently  look amazing with the bright purples and pinks of the scarves and accessories of spring.

Vince Mia flats in Flint. We are getting some great feedback about the comfort and versatility of these shoes. No fewer than three customers have returned to buy the same pair in another color!

Minnie Rose Cashmere Ruana poncho. A much welcomed twist on the classic Minnie Rose poncho, this one in Canteen (another great name for green this spring) features fringe edges. Some of the softest cashmere in the store, the Minnie Rose Ruana, which can be worn multiple ways, always is a best seller.Image

Adriano Goldschmied AG feather print jeans. These celebrate some of the two greatest things: white denim + cute print jeans. Image

J Brand Ready to Wear pink striped tank, Adriano Goldschmied AG ankle length distressed leggings in Olive. I love the combination of bright and girly on top, with the distressed olive jeans on the bottom. Image

Spring color palette: Soft greys, whites, lavenders, and silk prints.Image

Velvet by Graham and Spencer long jersey tee. This super soft, long tee is a great thing to throw on top of your spring and summer bottoms, be it white jeans, lavender leggings, or cuffed denim shorts.Image

J Brand cropped pants with zipper. I love these cropped pants from J Brand, and not just because they are the softest thing you may ever touch.

Behind the scenes of this week’s photoshoot

This week, we had our good friend (and should-be-full-time-model) Lindsay up visiting from Santa Barbara and stole the opportunity to get her in front of Julia’s camera for our latest shoot. Down in sunny Southern California, Linds splits her time between being a pilates instructor (at this amazing studio), nutritionist and part-time bartender (just to keep it real).  With the music blasting, (bad hip hop from the 90’s was the name of the game) we laid out the goods, popped some champagne and got our day started.   Below are some sneak peaks from the latest shoot as well as some fun clips from the editing room.  Keep your eyes peeled for all the goods on the site later this week, and remember: when things get busy, nothing is better than some Too Short and mimosas to get you through your day. Well, we think anyway.

I loved styling Lindsay with some bling for this shoot. And by bling, I mean gorgeous gold bangles by Robindira Unsworth and some long necklaces.

Julia shooting the cutest yellow flare pants from Shine, our new line in from Paris.

Pants by Shine, top by American Colors. Coming soon online!

Apparently the price tag wasn’t photographing well….  🙂

I think we put Lindsay’s hair up and then back down about 16 times. She loved us for it.

NSF top, skirt by Theory. Picnic season is just around the corner….

We LOVE this bright maxi from 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent…

Such a unique dress by a unique line, Sjobeck.

Fabulous Fall

It’s definitely a bit strange to buy Fall clothes in March, but for those in the boutique business, buying happens 3-4 months ahead of time.  It’s always a little bit weird to be making decisions on coats and fall tweeds when springtime shorts have not even made it out onto the shop floor!

This last market trip was no different…my favorite lines were Theory (no surprise), 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent (I am such a big fan of how they mix feminine with the masculine elements), Kooba handbags continue to make me long for each style that they show me, AG cords (coming early in the season) are not a thing of the past but a precursor to what my fall wardrobe will be built around.  Last but not least are Liebeskind boots straight from Berlin (we currently carry a ton of their bags which we LOVE), Alice and Olivia printed tops that will make you feel like you need to throw a party and Sjobeck (JesseRay and Garrett really know how to present a collection that is elegant, fun and fashion forward).

Some pictures to get you in the Fall mood…although let’s not rush it.
